The USGS MSL Blog is going to continue! This is excellent news.
Also in the excellent news department, I hear that the latest-site problem with the MSL metadata has now been fixed! We still have to wait for the NAIF SPICE MSL metadata to be updated, which happens twice a day; but when it gets updated now, it should include the latest site again. I'm very happy about this.

A couple housekeeping issues:
There is a MARDI (Descent Imager; the camera that points down) drive movie on MSL Sol 651 that will not show up in Midnight Planets, because the filenames of the images on the web do not match the filename format defined in the Software Interface Specification for Mastcam, MAHLI and MARDI. I currently do not have time to work around this issue.
MSL Metadata accessed through NAIF/SPICE continues to be missing the site orientation for the most recent 'destination' locations. It's impossible to tell from this end whether the problem is in the SPICE data processing or in the data that SPICE is generated from. This has been going on for weeks now; unfortunately there is nothing I can do about this issue except try to bring it to the attention of someone who can do something about it. So there you are.

As you can probably see, I'm working on reformatting and (I hope) improving the website. It's a work in progress.

MSL metadata seems to be 'stuck' at Sol 641. Sent an email to NAIF SPICE folks; not much else I can do at the moment.
Update: Sounds like people are aware of the problem. We'll just have to wait and see.
Update: ... Okay, maybe not fixed. Seems like metadata continues to be only partly updated.

Also new today, I've cleaned up the time format on the Latest Images pages, and added a note on the Curiosity Latest Images Page explaining when camera pointing and position metadata are updated.

For the last couple MSL drives, the final site has been missing orientation metadata, and so could not be displayed properly in the app. This could be a problem with the SPICE metadata, or a change in mission ops; I have no way of knowing at this end. Anyway, I put a crude workaround in place so that we can see the drive destination properly in the app again. The workaround steals the orientation metadata from the penultimate site until complete metadata for the final site becomes available... that's probably not going to be reliable, but seems to be all I can do for now.

The latest Opportunity Update at JPL notes that right-front wheel currents have improved again after backward driving.

I made another tweak to the metadata on this end, to fix MSL Mastcam image positions after about Sol 597.
